S.o.S. / New Hope and Eden Garden Orphanage

Since 2007, New Hope Adventist (Fulton, Md) has supported the mission of the Eden Garden Orphanage (E.G.O.) in Montrouis, Haiti. In May 2009, New Hope decided to dedicate its efforts to the Eden Garden Orphanage and started its S.o.S. HAITI Missions Ministry.

S.o.S.’s HAITI'S mission is to improve the quality of life for the children at the Eden Garden Orphanage and surrounding community by providing:
  • Medical and dental care and supplies

  • Drilling water wells to provide clean and parasite-free water for EGO and surrounding community

  • Financial support for the daily operations and capital projects such as construction of medical clinic

  • Transportation and other equipment

E.G.O. (founded by French-Americans, Charles & Gigi LeMorezellec ) currently cares for approximately 40 children of all ages and operates a school serving about 200 children. E.G.O. is a highly respected source of help and strength to the community in Montrouis, Haiti.

31 members and friends of New Hope were scheduled to fly over early in the morning on Wednesday, January 13, just hours after the earthquake hit. Charles (founder of EGO who was in Haiti with his wife preparing for the team’s visit) called New Hope S.o.S.'s Missions Director, Dave Wooster right after the earthquake hit as he was evacuating the children out of the buildings. He reported that all of the children and staff were safe.

New Hope's goal is to raise funds to help Eden Garden sustain the orphanage in the coming months. Eden Garden is asking for help in raising $200,000 as costs of gas, food and supplies have skyrocketed and so that E.G.O. can continue to provide help to its community. To donate to this effort now, see the paypal DONATE button on the right.
